Mu Sigma Chi Holds 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament

 
BANGOR – On Sunday, April 29, 2012 Mu Sigma Chi, a fraternity located at Husson University, and the Mu Sigma Chi Alumni Association will host their 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the United Way of Eastern Maine and Mu Sigma Chi Scholarship Fund.
 
The 1st Annual Mu Sigma Chi Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Hermon Meadows Golf Club. Tournament sponsors include Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Boston Red Sox, Sam’s Club, Verizon Wireless, The Charles Inn/Big Easy Lounge, Applebee’s, Chili’s, and the Olive Garden. What were you doing on our recent "summer" weekend March 16th-18th?  An active group of Piscataquis youth were out camping!  Alexandra and Kermit Bennett (with Maine Audubon) and Sam Cole and Stephen Madera (with the Charlotte White Center) were the trip leaders for this great event!

GREATER BANGOR CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU ANNOUNCES THE 2012 TOURISM AWARD WINNERS

Bangor, ME—The Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau in partnership with Presenting Sponsor, Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway, is pleased to announce the honorees for the 17th Annual Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards. Each year the Greater Bangor CVB honors the region’s best in the tourism and hospitality industry with Eagle and Eaglet Awards. These awards honor their dedication to the promotion of the Greater Bangor region to visitors and residents.

The 2012 Tourism Awards will be held on Tuesday, May 1st, at Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon, ME. This year the Greater Bangor CVB Impact Award, sponsored by Bangor International Airport, will be presented to the Friends of the Maine Center (represented by Michael Aube, Miles Theeman and Mark Woodward).

Statewide Ice Fishing Derby

    The statewide ice fishing derby will go on as scheduled this weekend. This is not to be confused with the cancellation of the Sebago derby that was called off two weeks ago. There are twenty weigh stations from Acton to St.Francis where anglers can bring their catches and compete for over $20,000 in prizes. Also if anyone is lucky enough to break the State record on togue (31 lbs. 8 oz) they will win a bonus of $100,000. To find out more information go to www.icefishmaine.com. SUB FIVE HALF MARATHON SUNDAY MARCH 4

Sub Five is heading up a half marathon event this Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 10AM. The road race starts in Brewer at 10AM and will cross the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge shortly thereafter, go out Main Street, to Buck weave onto Norway to Hammond, Maine Ave. and cross onto Griffin Road all the way back to Kenduskeag Avenue. The race then goes to Valley Avenue, through downtown and back over to Washington Street and back over the JC Bridge to Brewer where it ends. Please respect the runners as they will need a little extra room on the side of potentially snowy roadways. We will have Officer, cones and volunteers at all intersections so please follow their instructions and expect sporadic limited delays.
