"Giggey Girl Gowns" is Open for Business!

"Giggey Girl Gowns" is Open for Business!

My name is Kassidy Giggey and I am a Brewer High School student and the founder of a brand new branch called “Giggey Girl Gowns”. We run a dress donation program through my church, The Community of Christ Church in Brewer, Maine. I have never had to experience such a hard circumstance. Someone in my family has always been there to provide for me, even when it comes to dresses. Recently while looking for prom dresses, I found that the dress I wanted was going to be around $280.00. Luckily, I have a job and will be able to afford the dress.

Jean Drive to Help Local Families

During the month of March, the girls of the Bangor Y’s Opportunity Program for Teens (OPT) will be holding a Jean Drive, a clothing drive to benefit children and families of the Greater Bangor area. From March 1st to March 31st, donation boxes will be set out in the Y’s lobby for people to drop off their donations during building hours. New and gently worn clothing (except previously worn bathing suits and undergarments) are appreciated.

Families interested in looking at the collected donations can contact Adriana Hopkins, Youth & Teen Assistant Director, or Cathy Hamel, Youth & Teen Director, at 941-2808.

The Bangor Y’s Opportunity Program for Teens (OPT) is an after school program for girls in grades 7-12 that provides a safe and positive environment for teens to develop new skills and discover new opportunities.
