National Charter Schools Week – Maine has joined the movement
In 2011, Maine joined 40 other states in allowing public charter school options for families of all income levels. On May 1, 2012, the Maine Charter School Commission issued its first application package for potential founders of these new public education options, which are free to parents and open to all children without admissions tests.
The Maine Association for Charter Schools (MACS) will celebrate the great work accomplished by public charter schools across the country, where over 5,000 public chartered schools are serving 1.8 million students.
