The Music Man Starring Peter Scolari to Open at the Ogunquit Playhouse July 20th!

There’s Trouble in River City… Yes, the critically acclaimed Broadway classic, The Music Man marches onto the Ogunquit Playhouse stage July 20 through August 20. Starring Emmy Award winner Peter Scolari as Harold Hill, Meredith Willson’s all-American favorite follows the fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a town band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef!

I spent the morning in Orono. I noticed the sign for the Orono Thrift Shop and that it was open today so I had to go check it out. I like visiting shops like this because you never know what you will find. What I like about the Orono Thrift Shop is that the proceeds go to Orono Health Association to support various charitable causes which is clearly displayed when you are checking out. Everything is marked at affordable prices. The shop is located on Birch Street in Orono near the public library on the second floor. There is a room full of clothes and another with items ranging from kids toys to kitchen stuff. I found old bottles for a quarter apiece that had Portland, ME etched on them.

Today I decided to go check out the new bakery that my friends have been mentioning as a great place to grab lunch. Massimo's Breads opened last week on 130 Hammond Street in Bangor. Its an Italian artisan bakery that has breads, pizza, sweets and sandwiches. Its only a few steps away from Massimo's Cucina Italiana up the hill. While I waited I got to try samples of their pizza and bread which were very yummy. I loved the design of the bakery which was beautiful and simplistic. The staff was very nice and the bakery has a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the campagna panini (turkey, provolone and basil pesto) which was delicious and a large serving. They also have assorted coffee and espresso drinks available. I would recommend this bakery as a great place to go and grab lunch and bring it back to the office and make your coworkers jealous. :)

Coco Loco on Central Street in Bangor opened today. Its a Mexican restaurant that has tamales, tostadas, tacos, empanadas and quesadillas on the menu currently. It seemed a little chaotic being the first day open in the kitchen but the food was delicious. I am hoping this becomes a great place for locals to stop by for lunch. From what I heard Coco Loco will be open Monday-Friday 7-2pm and is cash only. Curious what the breakfast menu will look like.
