Adopt a cat, save a life, save a lot

The Bangor Humane Society desperately needs the local community to adopt a shelter cat. Once again, in the last 24 hours, over 65 cats have been surrendered to the Humane Society for a variety of reasons. This brings the current number of cats in care of the Humane Society reaching over 200 again- with over 79 adult cats and 65 kittens currently housed in the shelter and over 75 residing in foster care.
In an effort to find forever homes for their adoptive cats, the Bangor Humane Society is again offering a “Name your adoption fee” discount program for cats 6 months and older. Individuals can choose the adoption fee for their cat of choice by simply making a minimum donation of at least $10.

ADOPTIVE FAMILIES URGENTLY NEEDED!

Summertime means that the Bangor Humane Society is full of pets awaiting adoption. In an effort to increase pet adoptions, the Humane Society is offering a variety of discounted prices and promotions on pet adoptions throughout the summer.
Additionally, hard economic times also mean that pets are being surrendered to the Humane Society at an alarming rate because their owners can no longer afford to care for them.
The adoption center is currently full of dogs available for adoption and has over 200 cats and kittens in the facility and in foster homes awaiting adoption within the next month.
This is the time of year is known as “kitten season,” as hundreds/thousands of female cats in our community deliver litters of kittens. Since June 1st, hundreds of cats and kittens have been surrendered by area residents.
