Real Maine Wedding Contest Winners Need Public Vote | People
Nick’s wedding attire from Classic Tuxedo has been chosen by the public
Alyssa Kavanagh and Nick Planeta, winners of the 2012 Real Maine Wedding of the Year Contest, continue to have portions of their wedding plans finalized by public vote. In the last round of voting, a decision was made on Nick’s wedding attire from Classic Tuxedo.
Nick picked out three stunning suits from Classic Tuxedo, located in South Portland. He and his groomsmen will be sporting “Suit #1”, thanks to the overwhelming response from the public vote.
The winning design will be announced on the 2012 Real Maine Wedding contest blog, Tuesday, August 21.
The 2nd Annual Real Maine Wedding of the Year Contest was announced in January. After receiving entries from all over the state and New England, a panel of judges and voting from the general public narrowed the field of finalists down to three. Finalist voting took place for two weeks, and the grand prize-winners were announced. As grand prize winners, Alyssa and Nick have won their dream wedding in Portland, which will be valued at up to $100,000.
Alyssa was born and raised in Winslow, Maine and lived there nearly her entire life. Nick grew up in Westwood, Massachusetts about 25 miles outside of Cambridge. The couple met at Gifford’s Ice Cream in Waterville in 2006. They each attended Colby College and have since made Cambridge, Massachusetts their home. Portland holds a special place in the couple’s hearts. During Alyssa’s final year at Colby, they frequently met in Portland because it was the halfway point between each other’s homes.
This year, Real Maine Weddings is partnering with over 32 wedding and tourism-related businesses to showcase Portland, Maine as a destination wedding location. The extensive list of vendors can be found under the 2012 “Contest Tab” on the Real Maine Weddings website.
