UMaine women's hockey coach to resign | News
ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Seven weeks after being placed on leave, UMaine Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Maria Lewis will resign on Thursday.
Asisstants Sara Reichenbach and Richard Reichenbach will share the role of head coach for the remainder of the season.
Lewis was put on paid administrative leave September 16, pending an investigation focusing primarily on potential NCAA compliance issues.
The university notified the NCAA of their investigation about the possible compliance infractions. Among the issues being investigated are whether NCAA bylaws restricting the number of hours student-athletes spend in activities directed or supervised by coaching staff had been adhered to consistently.
Lewis had been the coach of the Black Bears since 2010.
