Police recognize civilian heros at annual awards dinner
News

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) ---  Heroes are seen on the big screen and on TV but every years it's the heroic actions of some that show they exist right here in Maine.

Each year the Maine Association of Police recognizes people at their annual awards dinner. The select few are honored for acts of heroism and lifesaving ability during a time of crisis. This year six people from the Bangor area were honored.

A local business was also recognized for its service to the community. Niko and Beth Turlla, who own Angelo's Pizza in Bangor, have donated time, money and food to make a difference for several charities. They include cancer spaghetti suppers and many school fundraising events. The couple has also given free gift cards for charity raffles.
