Polar Plunge for Camp Capella Approaching

DEDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- This Saturday, A few brave hardy souls will be braving the depths of Phillips Lake in Dedham to raise money for Camp Capella and Camp Sunshine. On Saturday, February 9th at 1:00 p.m.,  dozens of people are expected to jump into the icy waters for a fundraiser called "Freezin for a Reason."  They're getting sponsors to donate to them to take the dip.

"We cut a ten foot by 15 foot hole in the ice and jump in three at a time. You're only in there for four or five seconds nobody does any endurance challenges believe me. It's cold," said Jim Dowling, the event organizer.

All the proceeds will go to benefit Camp Capella in Dedham, which is a camp for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Proceeds can also be designated forCamp Sunshine in Casco which provides a camp experience for kids with life threatening illness and their families.
