BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--The City of Bangor's Health and Human Services Department is urging people to think carefully about using alternative heating sources to heat their homes.
The City does help connect people to resources they might need to heat their homes safely, or if necessary, to find a safe place to go to stay warm.
They do their best to get out the word about the importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors too, and to make good safe choices about how they heat their homes.
Anyone in need of assistance to heat their homes can call 211. That is a statewide hotline that can help you find services in your area.
