Man charged in connection with several home burglaries

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- An Orrington man charged in connection with several burglaries that occured at homes around the Bangor area went before a judge Wednesday afternoon.

23-year-old Nicholas Osgood made his initial court appearance via video conference at the Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor Wednesday. Osgood is being charged with 6 counts burglary and 5 counts theft. He was arrested Monday after police matched his vehicle to the description of the suspects they were looking for.

According to a police affidavit, Osgood admitted to stealing several items during his arrest including $400 worth of jewelry. Court documents also state that Osgood expressed being involved in so many burglaries that he had a hard time remembering what he had got from which house.

Assistant District Attorney, Brendan Trainor, says that the burglary charges are in connection to homes that were broken into in the towns of Glenburn and Hampden.

On Wednesday a judge set bail for $5,000 cash. Osgood is scheduled to appear for a dispositional conference on March 11th.
