Trick-or-treating for a good cause

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Even though Halloween is still a week and a half away, many kids in the Bangor area got to do some early trick-or-treating at the Bangor Auditorium on Saturday.

Saturday was the 10th annual pumpkins in the park event put on by the United Cerebral Palsy of Maine. Resource Development Coordinator Tish Pendergast said this event typically raises $10,000-$15,000. All of that money goes back to UCP so it can continue to offer programs to help people with disabilities.

"The families, you know, they need support. They need a go to person like our case management services are so important because those case managers help find other services that people with disabilities need," Pendergast said.

Pendergast said UCP helps around 1,500 people a year and would like to try and add some additional services in the future to try and help out more people.
