Shrine clowns converge on Bangor | News
BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- On Friday the Bangor Mall had people wearing lots of crazy make-up, red noses and big floppy shoes because shrine clowns from all over New England are in town this weekend.
Tony Bowers of the Bangor Shriners said about five-seven thousand Shriners are in town. At the mall clowns competed to see who had the best make-up, who could perform the best skits and there was even a balloon competition. On Saturday there will be several opportunities to see the clowns around the Bangor area.
"Tomorrow (Saturday) there is a parade in downtown Bangor starting at 2, but before that we have Go Karts. The motorized units are having competitions out at Freedom Park starting at 7 tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Go karts, mini bikes, 4x4 trucks and things like that, who looks the best, who can go through cones the best and be safe," Bowers said.
Bowers said the parade starts at 2 on Exchange Street. The parade will make its way through downtown Bangor and end at Buck Street near Bass Park.
