Bristol man charged with embezzling over $150,000 | News
BRISTOL, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police said a Bristol man has been charged with allegedly embezzling funds from two different companies.
51-year-old Joseph Corson was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department and charged with class B theft.
Officials said Corson was the target of an investigation after the owner of two companies in Bristol notices $150,000 missing from the books. Corson has been the bookkeeper for both deal Septic and McPhee Enterprises since 2001.
Police said they believe Corson embezzled the funds over a 10-year-period by regularly overpaying and making many unauthorized purchases with company funds.
Corson was arrested and later released on $25,000 bail.
