Bangor Police identify suspect in downtown robberies

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Bangor Police have identified Jonathan Matute, 18, as a suspect in a rash of burglaries that have put downtown business owners on edge.

Police say Matute is a white male 5'3" 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Matute was last seen in a gold Buick Century with Maine registration 5147SL. The car was reported stolen to the UMaine Police Department on July 26.

Police say they executed a search warrant at an apartment at 19 Clinton street and recovered stolen items from businesses in the Coe Building and at 96 Harlow Street.
