BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Bangor Police Department is looking for a car and its occupants that struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday night and drove off without stopping.

Police say the accident happened around 10:30 P.M. Saturday at the intersection of Patten and Main Streets.  A male victim was found dead at the scene when police arrived.  His identity has not been released.

Authorities say a white or light colored, small to midsize sedan was traveling inbound on Main St. in the passing lane at the intersection to Shaw's Supermarket when it struck the pedestrian and immediately left the scene without stopping.

Police say there's evidence the car that hit the pedestrian may have damage to the front end, hood, and windsheild.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Bangor Police Department at 947-7382, or anonymous tips can be left by dialing "6" to use the tip line.
