You don't want to miss this years EAST vs. WEST Basketball action!  All-Star athletes from across the state will come together on Saturday, March 8 at Newman Gymnasium at Husson University in Bangor.

Your ticket is good for all four action packed games. The seniors are set to put on a amazing show for you, complete with slam-dunk and foul shooting contests! Enjoy all the games with your friends, family and teammates!Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. 

All net proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine. This year's fundraising goal is $28,000.

Hannah Scully (Saco) named 2012 Maine Games Youth Athlete of the Year

Hannah Scully (Saco) named 2012 Maine Games Youth Athlete of the Year

Seventeen year-old Hannah Scully, of Saco, has been named the 2012 Maine Games Youth Athlete of the Year.

Since 2003, and the Maine Games' first year in existence, this Thornton Academy senior has been the most prolific athlete in the organization's 10-year history.

In 2003, Scully, then an eight-year old baton twirler, won her first Maine Games medal (gold). Her eight-year participation record has led her to the medal podium more than 30 times.

Competing in team, solo, pairs, and two-baton events in the Maine Games State Baton Twirling Championships, Scully has been a part big part of every twirling event offered by the Pine Tree State's official State Games.

In 2004 and 2005, she also ran in the Maine Games State Track and Field Championships at Fitzpatrick Stadium, in Portland, winning a gold and two silver medals in the 50m and 100m, respectively.

The East Grand Adventure Race

 The East Grand Adventure Race is Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Danforth Area.

Hosted by the East Grand Outdoor Education Program and sponsored in part by Ski Rack Sports of Bangor, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust, and First Wind, This ALL NEW COURSE is 20 miles, includes a 1.5+ mile off trail compass run, 10 miles of Mt. biking, 8.5 miles of canoeing, an extra challenge or two along the way and a climbing wall challenge back at the school's gym. What started as a high school race several years ago has grown to include a division for adults, Jr./Sr. and relay teams for those who want to enter but do not want to do the entire course. Divisions: race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; Adult men, women, mix; Jr./Sr. The open division can by solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. In short, anything that doesn't fit into the other divisions can compete in the open division.

All proceeds benefit the School's outdoor education program.

Nominations Open for Frank Gaziano Football Scholarship and Awards

 Jeff Kane, president of National Distributors and Frank Gaziano's son-in-law, announced that nominations are open for The Annual Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards. The awards are given to the top high school football offensive and defensive linemen in the state because of their hard work on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities. Nominations for the awards will be accepted through Friday, December 16. For more information on the nomination process visit, www.gazianolinemanawards.org.
