Ronald McDonald House Cooking Class

Whole Grain Breads

Heather Brown returns to the Ronald McDonald House to share with us how to make and bake some delicious whole grain breads.  Heather hosted cooking classes for school children to educate them about healthy alternatives, and in 2008 she taught a Holiday Cooking class for the Ronald McDonald House as well.  She will demonstrate one basic starter that you can use to create a multitude of delicious breads for your family and friends.  Wait till you see the looks on your guest’s faces when they arrive at your home and smell fresh bread baking in the oven.

Relay For Life Seeks New Committee Members

Relay for Life of Penobscot County to be held in May of 2011

Walkers will go around the clock in the battle against cancer when the eighteenth American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Penobscot County gets underway in May.  Prior to the event, committee members plan everything from logistics, to entertainment, to ceremonies, to advocacy events.  Currently, the Relay for Life of Penobscot County is seeking new volunteers to join the committee for the 2011 event.

“Relay is a unique opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against the disease,” says Denise Trafton, Co-Chair for the Relay for Life of Penobscot County.  “Committee members for the event work hard in the months and weeks leading up to Relay, to ensure a fun, rewarding, memorable experience for everyone involved.”

A committee meeting will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., this Thursday night, Nov.
