The residents of Winterberry Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care Community know how to throw a party.  Members of the Hammond Street Senior Center have been known to dance the night away non-stop.  Put the two together, add in an All-American burger buffet and a live rock-n-roll band, and you’ve got the makings for a fun fundraiser.

That’s exactly how the folks at Winterberry Heights raised $500 to support programs for area seniors offered by the Hammond Street Senior Center.

The ‘50s Flashback Dance with music by Rockin’ Ron is the second public fundraiser Winterberry Heights has hosted on behalf of the Hammond Street Senior Center.

“We are grateful to have such strong support from so many local businesses and other organizations such as Winterberry Heights. Truly, as a public charity, we depend on events like this to help meet the costs of providing the range and quality of programs that our members rely on to stay healthy, active and engaged,” remarked Senior Center Executive Director Kathy Bernier, as she accepted the $500 donation from Ms. Long and Winterberry Heights.

More than 2,000 area seniors maintain active annual membership to the Senior Center. Events hosted by supportive organizations and businesses, combined with Senior Center-sponsored events, grant funding, and solicitation of private donations, help to keep membership to the Senior Center 100 percent free and individual program fees minimal.
