The East Grand Adventure Race | Community Spirit
The East Grand Adventure Race is Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the Danforth Area.
Hosted by the East Grand Outdoor Education Program and sponsored in part by Ski Rack Sports of Bangor, the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust, and First Wind, This ALL NEW COURSE is 20 miles, includes a 1.5+ mile off trail compass run, 10 miles of Mt. biking, 8.5 miles of canoeing, an extra challenge or two along the way and a climbing wall challenge back at the school's gym. What started as a high school race several years ago has grown to include a division for adults, Jr./Sr. and relay teams for those who want to enter but do not want to do the entire course. Divisions: race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; Adult men, women, mix; Jr./Sr. The open division can by solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. In short, anything that doesn't fit into the other divisions can compete in the open division.
All proceeds benefit the School's outdoor education program. Entry fee is $20.00 per person which includes trophies, t-shirts, lunch and over $1,000.00 in prizes for youth divisions. Registration deadline is Friday May 11. While the race will be physically challenging. It is not beyond the reach of those who are in reasonably good physical condition.
