Proceeds to Benefit Camp CaPella

Kids of all ages can take a close-up look at a variety of trucks and vehicles of all sizes and functions at the brand new Touch-A-Truck Fair at the Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road in Bangor, on Saturday, August 13 from 11:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Camp CaPella, provider of recreational resources and opportunities along with handicapped-accessible facilities on Phillips Lake for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.

Preview and interviews will be available at the Cole Land Transportation Museum on Friday, July 29 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. (or by phone) with Chris Thorne and Dana Mosher ready to answer any questions.

“Children and adults as well will enjoy the opportunity to take a closer look at many different types of trucks and emergency vehicles, sit in the cabs, talk to truckers and watch some of the action during demonstrations,” notes Chris Thorne, project manager at the Cole Land Transportation Museum. “Kids will be happy to see and learn more about the world of trucks.”

“More sponsors are welcome to get involved, and we think this Touch-A-Truck Fair will bring in lots of interest and attendance,” adds Dana Mosher, executive director of Camp CaPella. “Plus the proceeds from ticket sales will send kids to Camp CaPella for a vacation all their own.”

Pelletier brothers from the Discovery Channel’s “American Loggers” and other loggers will have logging vehicles on display. Tractor trailers, tow trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks, construction vehicles and long-haul trucks will be within easy reach. An excavator and loader will be there, along with Freightliner cabs. Emergency transportation vehicles will include a ladder truck from the Bangor Fire Department, ambulances, a helicopter, an emergency response box truck and state police vehicles (including robot demonstrations)..

Fun vehicles will include The Kool Bus, a Hollywood custom limo, snowcat, a MUD truck and a submarine.

Food and drinks will be available in the Camp CaPella Truck Stop area and served by members of Kappa Delta Phi. Anah Shrine Clowns will act funny, Anah Shrine Mini Trucks will be riding around and a dunk tank will be available in which local celebrities will get dunked!

Sponsors currently include the Cole Land Transportation Museum, Carden Kennels, Bangor Breakfast Kiwanis Club, Brewer Kiwanis Club, Bangor Letter Shop, Lane Construction, Kappa Delta Phi and the Brewer High School Football Team.

Tickets for the Touch-A-Truck Fair will be $5.00 for individuals and $20 for families. The Cole Land Transportation Museum will also be open, though admission is separate (children 18 and under get in for free).
