DECEMBER VACATION FUN AT THE BANGOR PUBLIC LIBRARY

Come to the Bangor Public Library’s Children’s department for winter fun.  On Tuesday, December 28, at 11 AM, try origami with Colby  Houghton.  Create paper chains, boxes, stars and trees.  Materials will be provided.
  
On Wednesday, December 29, at 10:30 AM the Penobscot Genealogical Society presents “Genealogy for Kids.”   Children between the ages of 8 and 14 are invited to learn about resources at the Library, and have a tour of the Bangor History Room.  Register at the Children’s Desk, or call 947-8337, ext 111.
  
On Thursday, December 30, at11 AM, Shelley Sargent of Penobscot Valley School of Gymnastics presents “The Joy of Gymnastics.”  Teen gymnasts will demonstrate basic gymnastic skills and perform a routine, while Ms. Sargent explains warm-ups, mats, beams, exhibitions, practice, and the perseverance it takes to become a gymnast. 
  
On Friday, December 31, 7-10 PM  everyone is invited to the Bangor Public Library’s Family New Year’s Party.  The Library’s part of the City’s Downtown CountDown is a chance to spend the last hours of 2010 playing games at the library…. Wii’s, board games, electronic games, active games (think Limbo and Musical Chairs) plus magician Dan Baker, or you can Zumba with Robinson Ballet, do karaoke, listen to stories and young musicians, try crafts and have snacks.  It’s free and open to everyone!
  
Remember that the Bangor Public Library will be closed for unpaid furlough days from Monday December 20 through Monday December 27.  The Library reopens, Tuesday, December 28.
