Orono, Maine.  April 4th 2011 - University of Maine Student Entertainment is proud to announce that Girl Talk will be performing at the Field House on Thursday, April 7th.  Doors open at 6:30pm, and the concert is open to the public and an all-ages event.  Tickets can be purchased ($20 for students, $25 for the general public) at http://www.umainetix.com/. 

Girl Talk is the stage name of Gregg Gillis, a former biomedical engineer turned mash-up remix master who has risen to international musical acclaim with his signature sound created by the layering and mixing of samples of hundreds of songs to create unique and and undeniably danceable musical compositions.  Girl Talk shows are known for their dance-party like environment, featuring lasers, confetti cannons, and hundreds of people dancing like there’s no tomorrow, with Gillis at the helm bringing down the house (or in the case of his Chicago Ne

Volunteers from Families And Children Together (F.A.C.T.) will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, April 29th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Herbert Sargent Community Center in Old Town.  Dinner is only $6 per person,
$4 for children under 12, or $20 for a family of 5. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

All proceeds from this event support F.A.C.T.’s Pay It Forward Fund.  This fund assists grandfamilies in crisis.  It has bought fuel for families to stay warm during the winter, kept the electricity on, paid for a babysitter when the grandparent is sick, and much more.  When families receive funds they agree to pay it forward by helping someone else in need.  Families might offer babysitting to another family, provide transportation to an elderly neighbor, or maybe knit hat and mittens for children.  The possibilities are endless.
